To be or not to be was never really the question. In the inexorable journey of life, whether you dance to music or face the music, the important facet is what is it that you really want to be. The question presents itself in many different ways. It could emerge as a simple or advanced search for identity or as a byproduct of something as mundane as survival in the humdrum bylanes of existence. While the questions may adopt various forms, the earlier in life one addresses them, and in the most unambiguous manner, the more life will present moments to cherish and pass away with. And the answer, my friend, unfortunately, is not blowing in the wind.
Most of us struggle to figure out this riddle, especially as we don't move in or out of life by of our own volition. The insignificant minority which does crack it, achieves the desired goals. They feel the wonder of life in all its glory and peace. The joy they experience is long-lasting , if not eternal. The rest simply crave, struggle and carry on with the vegetated form of ephemeral existence, hoping for a good turn, biding time. As far as goals are concerned, everybody seems to possess some notion or the other. A singificant subset of the majority runs the race with certain goals, transactional in nature or otherwise, in perspective. And once there, realises they have to run some more, presumably, to vanquish higher goals. And so, it goes on and on and on...without pause. In this chase to the dynamic goalposts, it is easy to lose track of whether one is being pulled into the vortex or running forward towards it. The power of choice is rendered feckless. One would tend to hypothesise therefore, that having goals and pursuing them, may not be the perfect or complete recipe for living life to its fullest.
So, are we not missing something here? There is apparently, a piece of the puzzle, which constantly eludes us. Perhaps, it lies in the nature of energy one exudes. It is also likely, the answer lies in the quest of identity.
The identity we consciously chose to create or build defines our sense of being. Do we want to be the spark, howsoever small, with the potential to create energy? Or do we want to be the deadwood which awaits the spark to be fired up?
Chose what you want to be! Deadwood is aplently, Be the Spark!
